Have fun out there and ride safe!

Open for business!

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Our trails are now fully open!
Granted we still could use some more snow, but the groomer’s been out, the signs are up and the shelter is stocked with wood.

A huge thanks to all the club volunteers who put many hours into getting things ready for this season. Maintaining snowmobile trails is a lot of work and we can’t get things going without your help.

We’ll be grooming trails weekly between Monday and Thursday, if you’re out during the day be sure to slow down around corners and keep an eye out for our groomer. The operators also don’t mind a friendly wave.

If you’d like to help out or just be a part of the club, feel free to message us on Facebook, send us an email or come join us at one of our regular meetings.

From all of us at BTB, we hope you ride safe and enjoy our trails this season.

Sled Season is Almost Here!

2021 has been hard on everyone, especially last season. With minimal snowfall and health restrictions putting a damper on things we were surprised to still see many people out on the trails. Our club volunteers did an excellent job clearing, signing, and grooming trails through the season, and we hope everyone had a chance to enjoy all of them.

The future is looking brighter though, and we hope the 2021-2022 season will bring us back to normal, with some get-togethers, club rides, and of course absurd amounts of snow. In September we had our first in-person club meeting in over a year, followed up by an excellent club wind up barbeque. Thank you to everyone who came out, it’s awesome to finally see people face-to-face again. We also received the highest ever grooming payout, which would not have been possible without all the long hours our groomer operators put in on a weekly basis.

We’ve talked about it for a long time, but it’s finally happened, the groomer shed floor has been paved. Thanks to the Province of Manitoba and the Building Sustainable Communities Program we received almost $19,000 to put towards the total cost of almost $40,000 to complete the project. A huge thanks to our Vice President Brett Schewe for managing the project, as well as the large number of volunteers who helped move tools and furniture around. The newly paved floor should provide a much cleaner and more comfortable environment for our groomer operators and anyone else working on equipment in the groomer shed. If you haven’t had the chance to check it out, please feel free to come by during any one of our club events or meetings. I’d also like to take the time to thanks Eastcrete for helping us out with concrete, Agassiz Concrete Pumping, and AU Landscaping for the concrete finishing work.

This season, we’ll be adding almost 40km of new trails, linking the Towns of Tyndall and Anola, as well as Beasejour to Seddons Corner. Both sections of highway see a lot of sled traffic and we thought it was time to get them on the trail map. We hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the new trails, do some exploring and check out some local businesses on the way. If you’d like to advertise your business on our annual trail map, please get in touch with the club and we’ll get your name on the map!

Let’s all cross our fingers, pray, do a little dance, or whatever it is you do, for some serious snow this year. Whether you’re a trail rider, a mountain sledder, like skiing or just enjoy the snow, I hope you have an amazing winter. If you just so happen to find some time to join a club, we’d love to have you!

Welcome to the 2020-2021 Season

As the newest president of the Brokenhead Trail Blazers I’d like to welcome you to a very different 2020-2021 riding season. I’d also like to give a huge thank you to all the local advertisers and businesses who continue to support our club. Their support helps carry our club forward every year and we hope you will take the time to check out the products and services they offer. It’s more important than ever this year that we support our hard-working local businesses.

As I said, this year will be very different. We may not have warm up shacks, local restaurants, cookie-fueled club meetings or our favorite hangout spots. What we do still have is 230 kilometers of beautiful trails for everyone to get out of the house and enjoy. Snowmobiling is one of those sports where you can stay safe, maintain social distancing yet still have an absolute blast. We expect many more people to give the sport a try this year and extend a warm welcome to them as well as our many returning riders.

Nobody likes to ruin the party, but I’d like to take the time to remind everyone to please respect all current health orders and public health advice. I know it may be frustrating to some, with shacks closed, and gatherings restricted. Remember to plan ahead with the understanding that there may not be places to warm up or have a bite to eat. Never ride alone and make sure you share your plans with friends and family. Most importantly, please don’t drink and ride.

If you’d like to join the club to help us out or have your voice heard in the snowmobile community please check us out on Facebook, or our website brokenheadtrailblazers.ca. We also have a few extra trail cameras this year you can view at snocams.ca. Hopefully we beat this pandemic before our season is over and can enjoy a few hangouts, cookouts, cookies, and get-togethers that help take our sport to the next level. Be kind to each other and let’s have a great season!

Brokenhead Trail Blazers

Welcome to 2020!

Fifty years ago, the Brokenhead Trail Blazers Power Toboggan club was created. A lot has changed in five decades. Friends have come and gone, new faces have joined us along the way, and thousands of hours have have gone into making our trail system the best it can be.

To mark this occasion we decided to change things up with a brand new logo and updated website! We’re also hosting an amazing 50th anniversary dinner on April 18th, 2020. Entertainment includes live music, silent auction prizes and a wonderful catered dinner by one of our favorite local eateries. Check out the event on Facebook here. Tickets are available now, so get in touch with us before they’re gone! We also have sponsored tables for groups of 8. If you’d like to support a local club and get your business recognized, then you’ve picked the right event!
